Heritage Highlands

Heritage Highlands Golf Club is nestled at the base of the scenic Tortolita Mountains and lies in lush emerald green contrast to the surrounding desert. The vistas from every Heritage Highlands vantage point, are an incomparable panorama of the Tortolita, Catalina, Rincon, Tucson and Santa Rita Mountains, as well as the Tucson cityscape below.


Heritage Highlands is a course diverse in playing environments. The front nine holes of this Arthur Hills design play through the flats, offering subtle undulation and unforgettable character. The back nine is an interesting and challenging change of pace, playing through hilly terrain, wrapping around mountains and meandering by lakes. The course is laden with risk/reward opportunities which test the skills of the novice and the most seasoned golfers.

The course begins at the gently sloping foot of the Tortolita Mountains. Using the terrain to the course's advantage, Hills has managed to mask bunkers and disguise contours in the greens, making depth perception tricky. As the course climbs up into the foothills on the back nine, the requirement for accuracy from the tee increases significantly. Number 13, an uphill par 4 aptly named Arthur's Hill, requires the players to hit a drive to a lofty plateau, from which they must stroke a shot to a narrow, partially sheltered green dramatically situated some 50 feet below. The par-3 Number 17, called Picture Perfect, affords players a sweeping panorama of the Tucson Basin and five surrounding mountain ranges. At 223 yards from the championship tee, this hole requires crossing two washes to a narrow, protected green. Created with little disturbance to the natural setting, Number 17 epitomizes the beauty that is Heritage Highlands.

The mood of this great Arthur Hill's course changes with the long shadows of sunrise and the ever changing color hues of the desert sky at sunset. The natural vegetation on the course reflects a commitment to exist in harmony with nature.
